Here's some industry insight: In the state of Florida, there is no license officially titled “Medical Esthetician.” At Dolly Monroe Beauty Academy, we believe in complete transparency. Many of the industry's top employers use the term “Medical Esthetician,” and simply put, the real advantage is becoming dual-licensed as an Electrologist/Laser Technician, and Esthetician.
That said, earning both licenses together creates a powerful advantage. Dual-licensed professionals stand out in the job market, are eligible for a wider range of opportunities, from medical spas to post-operative care and gain recognition as paramedical practitioners with the ability to perform advanced services and even accept insurance in certain cases.

Despite, what you may have heard, in Florida, you do not need to become an esthetician before pursuing licensure as an Electrologist or Laser Hair Removal Specialist. These are independent credentials regulated by the state, and students may enroll directly into the Electrology & Laser Program without first holding a Facial Specialist license and vice versa.
